MAIN CONCRETE

The next day, I received the following response: "We appreciate your request, but, we are not interested in bidding on this project, at this time." Apparently, Main Concrete is definitely not the place to go if you are looking for someone to assist with a small cement job. They are not interested. Admittedly, it is a rather long haul for them from Appleton to New London, but it's my understanding they often have jobs in the New London area. It's too bad the owner couldn't see his way to adding this small job on sometime when they are in the area. I don't think it's particularly good business to just brush off a potential client. If I were to change my mind about the front step and go with a larger outdoor cement area and the two steps (which I have considered), I won't go back to Main Concrete for a bid. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone else either. If a small job is beneath this company, I wouldn't go to them for a large job.

Highly recommend Main Concrete. Good response, on-time and completed the project at quoted price. They did excellent work.

Mike and his crew did an excellent job and very quickly i might add. Whole project was done in two days.

The work was done on schedule and very efficiently. 19 years later it still looks pretty new. No cracking, spalling or settling.

I hired Main Concrete this past summer to put in about 100 Ft Driveway. I got three quotes for the driveway which all came in pretty comparable to each other. I chose to work with Main Concrete because out of the three of them, Mike seemed to know what he was talking about a bit more than the others. Main started and finished the work in about 1-½ days. The driveway was great, all the crew was very nice, and I was so happy I also hired Main to bring in topsoil to fill-in and even out over the lawn. They completed by seeding the entire area. I had this done later in the year 2012, so I was very impressed all the seed sprouted and grew before it got cold. If anyone is looking to have any cement work, I highly recommend Main Concrete. Everyone was very professional!

The experience with Main Concrete was not good. They poured a new driveway for me, and it is not quite two years yet, but we noticed when the ice began melting this year that it was scaling and all the gravel is beginning to come up. All the seams are disintegrating. I have worked with the Better Business Bureau and they have tried to resolve some of it, but he said all he would do is patch it up for us. I don't want a patched-up driveway, and I would take him to court but frankly, I can't afford a lawyer at $250 an hour. He came out in March and had a look, and he didn't think it was all that bad. He said he could patch it. I'm not expecting a patch job. Since then it is disintegrating. He poured 26 slabs. Out of the 26 there's maybe 6 of them that is not showing any deterioration. He blamed us for using salt - which we did not. Then it was salt off our vehicles! A couple of other professionals that we've had out have told us that we probably didn't notice it because we didn't know what we were looking for. They've said that it is probably an ongoing thing since the first year, but I can't prove it. The driveway was 'popping' which is small flakes, and scaling which is when the concrete comes off the top of the gravel. The whole thing is going to have to come up again. When they came to pour the concrete they said we can do this and that for you, and we had a contract. I don't have the contract any more because two months after the work we were broken in to and they took all our paperwork, money and the safe. It must have been in the safe because we can't find it. I didn't investigate this company because the Manager used to be employed by my workplace. I didn't know him particularly but he was familiar and I gave him the work. His prices were in line with everybody else. I called him in the spring about the damage and got his wife, she said he was out of town but she would have him call me back. He didn't. I finally got hold of him to come out and look at the driveway. His answer was "What do you want me to do about it?" ! I told him I wanted him to fix it. From that point on, he would not take my phone calls. On Saturday after he had not come out again, I used my daughter's cellphone and he didn't recognize the number. That's when he came out, he looked at it, and said basically the same thing: "Who's going to pay for this?" I said, not me, I paid you once.

The entire job was the essence of efficiency. The crew arrived early and started immediately . A front loader started removing earth and grass for layout of the new concrete area. Dumped the debris, leveled the surface, added gravel, etc. Front loader then removed blacktop, while another crewman sawed the end line of the blacktop removal. Moments later all the blacktop was in the dump-truck. Almost simultaneously the concrete truck rolled up to the driveway and the pouring started. At this point barely 2 hours had elapsed. Pouring, leveling, and floating the concrete was also done very efficiently. Turns out that the most difficult task was the concrete stabilizers for the culvert. It was a tedious part of the job for the crew. I am extremely pleased with the culvert stabilizers, and am totally satisfied with the entire result! The quality of work and productive efficiency of Main Concrete, Inc.'s crew deserves my strongest recommendation. I would hire them again!
